Dublin Cinemas
In the mid 1950’s, Dublin was awash with cinemas. Local community theatres, grand art deco buildings – every suburb had it’s own picturehouse and there were over 55 different venues for residents to enjoy for their next trip to the pictures.
Sadly there are only 14 cinemas in Dublin today but that hasn’t slowed the amount of people going to the pictures. With the highest cinema admissions per capita in Europe, it shows the love Ireland, and by association, Dublin has for film. So it stands to reason that there are some pretty special cinemas to visit in it’s capital city.
From the city’s oldest operational cinema, The Savoy ,serving up your latest Marvel flick to the achingly cool Arthouse/Independent venue Lighthouse Cinema on Market Square, you really are spoilt for choice in this fabulous city of cinemas.
